Please join us for the 11th Annual Oceanside Jazz Festival at MiraCosta College on Saturday May 6, 2017. I am extremely excited to announce that this year’s featured guest is prolific percussionist Lenny Castro. 

 

The educational festival is an all day event. For the past several years we have successfully piloted a new format that has been found to be quite beneficial. Feedback has been very positive from both students and directors.

In his prolific career Lenny Castro has performed and recorded with hundreds of jazz and pop stars including Adele, the Rolling Stones, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, The Crusaders, Quincy Jones, Wayne Shorter, and many others. Lenny will be featured with our 2016 and 2015 Downbeat Award winning big band MOJO at the evening concert and present a free master class earlier in the day.

Each band will receive…

 

• A customizable 45 minute clinic / performance time slot with three of our world-class adjudicators

 

• A video of your performance/clinic in our state of the art facilities

 

• Voice recordings of adjudicator’s comments

 

• Written comment sheets

 

• A rating based on the culmination of the judges remarks

 

• Master class / Q & A Session with Lenny Castro

 

• Invitation to attend Open Rehearsal with Mike Stern on Friday May 5, 2017 @ 6:00PM
